The HE697THM160 is a 16-Channel Thermocouple Input Module from Horner APG that provides 16 channels of thermocouple inputs with a resolution of 0.1 degrees Celsius. The module currently supports ten (10) types of thermocouples that are J, K, N, T, E, R, S, B, C, and JX (extended J). On a channel by channel basis, the choice of the type of thermocouple is optional. The HE697THM160 thermocouple input module allows direct connections with thermocouple sensors without having to use standard analog input modules and external signal conditioners. The voltage of the thermocouple changes to a digital value, a cold junction is compensated, and the exact temperature value is reported to %AI registers in an increment of 0.1 or 0.5 degrees. The values may be reported in increments of Celsius or Fahrenheit. Various parameters of configuration along with low and high set points for each channel are available through %AQ output registers. The wire size recommended to be used with the HE697THM160 thermocouple input module is 24 AWG. The module requires a power supply that provides a +/-12 Volts and 5 Volts DC to the backplane.
The HE697THM160 thermocouple input module provides an accuracy of +/-0.5 degrees Celsius for J, K, N, and T types of thermocouples. The ambient operating temperature of this thermocouple module is zero (0) to 60 degrees Celsius. It should be installed in a non-condensing environment with a relative humidity of 5 to 95 percent (%). The input impedance is > 20 megaohms. The maximum safe overload voltage is +/- 35 Volts from the floating common and the common mode range is +/-11 Volts. It provides bus isolation of 500 Volts DC.
