IC200MDL730 is a discrete output module by GE Fanuc. It belongs to the VersaMax family of products. It provides eight discrete outputs in the form of one single group. These outputs are either positive logic outputs or sourcing type outputs. The sourcing type outputs are responsible for the current supply to the load. The module also provides short circuit and overcurrent protection. This feature makes the module safer to use and avoids the risk of damage. A signal is generated whenever there is a short circuit or overcurrent. Hence this module offers point-level diagnostic functionality. The intelligent processing for the IC200MDL730 is done by the CPU or NIU. There are LED indicators present in this module. For each output point, there is a dedicated green LED present that indicates the output status if on or off. There are amber colored LEDs also present which specify fault conditions such as short circuit and overcurrent. For showing the status of field power and backplane current, FLD PWR LED and OK LED are present. There is no thermal derating observed in this module. The output voltage for this module is from 17.5 to 30 VDC and a load current of 2 A at 30 VDC voltage per point. The module has to be installed following all installation guidelines properly. It is to be noted that in case the external power is insufficient, local energy device may be used. To avoid any damage to the backplane, hot insertion should be done carefully during installation.
