The IC697CPU780 is a type of PLC CPU (central processing unit). It offers a single slot. It is manufactured by GE Fanuc. This module can control machines and processes without any time lag. A rack-mounted connection backplane is used to communicate with I/O and other connected "smart option" modules. Users can utilize the embedded control switch or link the CPU to a computer to control the IC697CPU780. A sixteen (16) megahertz 80386DX microprocessor powers the IC697CPU780. Thanks to this advanced processor, this CPU can perform floating-point operations every 0.4 microseconds.

Up to eight (8) kilobytes analog I/O, as well as various combinations of twelve (12) kilobytes inputs and outputs, are supported. Hot Standby redundancy applications are likewise supported by the IC697CPU780 module. Some of the redundancy included are CPU synchronization, "bumpless switching," and twenty (20) milliseconds scan extension.  Also, this module offers "no single point of failure" as an advanced redundancy feature. An expansion board can supply up to 512 kilobytes (kb) of program & user memory. Up to 256 kilobytes (kb) of flash memory can be added to the memory expansion circuit (NVRAM). Due to the expandable memory option, users can customize this module as per their needs. 

A checksum program that features parity detection provides error checking. This device can be programmed without the need for DIP switches or jumpers. Use a serial or parallel connection to connect the device to the programmer's computer. Use the built-in memory protection switch or a software password to secure configuration settings.
