GE Fanuc's IC697CPU731 is a central processing unit (CPU). It is a programmable logic controller (PLC) CPU with a single slot that is installed in a PLC rack. It is designed and configured to conduct real-time control of machines, processes, and material handling systems using programming tools via an Ethernet TCP/IP or SNP port. This device can support up to 8K analog Input / Output modules. It has a battery-backed CMOS memory of 32 kilobytes. It has a scan rate of 0.4 microseconds per Boolean function. It supports a total of 512 input and output points. It has an 80C186 CPU that operates at a clock speed of twelve (12) megahertz. It supports IC 697 LAN interface modules. It also supports bus switching controller modules, such as IC660 and IC661. This processor comes with a three-position switch. Either this switch or programming software can be used to operate this device. This product has one (1) RS-422/485 serial port. This serial port offers a serial connection to a programmer. This CPU has a lithium battery. When the CPU's power is turned off, this battery maintains the software and data memory, as well as runs the calendar clock. This battery may be replaced. It has ten (10) years of battery shelf life at 20 degrees Celsius. The CPU consumes one (1.0) ampere of current at five (5) volts for its operation. This CPU is equipped with three (3) green light emitting diodes (LEDs) to indicate its status. The device configuration is password-protected.
