The GE Fanuc Emerson IC697ALG440 is an analog current expander module that can be employed in many industrial applications. This module provides sixteen (16) current inputs that can convert an analog signal to a discrete signal with a resolution of 16 bits. These inputs support an input current range from 4 milliamperes to 20 milliamperes. This module draws a current of 400 milliamperes at a voltage of +5 volts DC. The IC697ALG440 has a single green LED indicator on the faceplate to provide the diagnostic feature and show the current status, power, and user power state of this module. The module provides analog input data of one word. The inputs can be programmed and configured to either default or hold the last state operation. The IC697ALG440 provides issue detection facilities and detects field power loss and open wires for each channel.

The IC697ALG440 can be programmed and configured through either MS-DOS or Windows. The input module provides an accuracy of ± 0.1 percent at 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit ) and ± 0.07 percent maximum of full scale. The IC697ALG440 offers an updated data rate of 2.4 milliseconds and employs the backplane optical isolation provided by optocouplers to offer electrical isolation of 250 volts AC continuously and 1500 volts AC for one minute between logic and frame ground. This device includes an analog multiplexer that is employed to connect the inputs to the A/D converter. The IC697ALG440 weighs approximately 640 grams (1.41 pounds) while shipping and operates at 0 degrees to 60 degrees Celsius (32 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) for industrial applications.
