The IC693PBS201 is a Series 90-30 PROFIBUS Slave module from GE Fanuc Automation. It is compatible with GE Fanuc Series 90-30 CPUs. The module is used as a slave on a PROFIBUS DP network, establishing communication with the PROFIBUS DP master module. The IC693PBS201 operates as a PROFIBUS slave and automatically exchanges data with a PROFIBUS master device on the same network. The module works on request, acknowledges a received message from the master, and transmits messages to the master. This module doesn’t have access rights to the bus. The IC693PBS201 can send or read input or output data of size up to 244 bytes. The module has an RS-232 serial port located at the back of its cover and supports all the standard data rates of PROFIBUS. The serial port is used for upgrading the firmware of the module. This PROFIBUS Slave module can be added to the rack configuration of the PLC. Users are required to expand the Hardware Configuration folder in the navigator. In this folder, users can select the PLC slot for installing the IC693PBS201 PROFIBUS Slave module.

Users can customize the control algorithm of the module and configure the programs that are stored in the PLC slave using GE Fanuc Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer software version 2.6 or later. Like most Series 90-30 accessory cards, the IC693PBS201 Profibus DP Slave module can be installed on the baseplate slots of the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 (except the first slot, reserved for installing the power supply). The current consumption rating of the IC693PBS201 module from the backplane is about 450 milliamperes at a voltage of 5 Volts DC. The ambient operating temperature of the module for optimum performance is between zero (0) and 60 degrees Celsius.
