This CPU offers a speed of 600 megahertz and high calculation efficiency employing an Intel Pentium M microprocessor with an HSB redundancy for critical applications. This device can be configured using C, ladder diagram, FBD and ST programming languages over either RS-232 or RS-485 serial port. The IC698CRE030 includes LED indicators to show the redundancy memory xchange module status, a battery-backed memory of 64 megabytes and 64 megabytes of flash memory. The CPU offers 32-kilo discrete inputs and outputs. The device provides 69 microseconds per 1000 boolean function and supports RS-485, RS-232 and Ethernet serial communication ports. The IC698CRE030 Ethernet port offers a data rate of either 10 megabytes per second or 100 megabytes per second.

This CPU has configurable data and program memory. The IC698CRE030 supports floating-point calculations and error detecting and correction feature. The device supports serial I/O, SNP and Modbus RTU slave protocols and contains a battery-backed memory to maintain data, program memory and calendar clock operation. This unit requires a current of 3.2 amperes at a voltage of 5 volts DC, 3 milliamperes at 12 volts DC or 3 milliamperes at -12 volts DC. This backplane expands the bandwidth when compared to other VME based systems. The CPU also supports hot standby redundancy. This feature allows for a critical application or process to continue operating if a failure occurs in any single component. The CPU comes with seven indicator LEDs to alert operators to any changes in status the CPU may be experiencing. The CPU ok light shows whether the CPU has passed its power-up diagnostics and is functioning properly. The Run LED shows whether the CPU is currently operating. The OUTS ENA indicator light signifies if there are any output scans ongoing, and the C1 and C2 ports signal if there is any ongoing activity in either of the ports. The CPU also has a battery indicator that turns on if the battery has failed or has been unattached and a system fault LED that tells operators if the CPU has stopped because of a fault. The CPU’s Ethernet interface allows for up to 16 web server and FTP connections to be made.
