The IC698ACC701 is a Smart Coin 2.5 Volt Battery manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation. The battery pack is a part of PACSystems RX7i Series of modules. The smart feature of the lithium battery allows it to warn the user when the battery power reaches low levels. The nominal battery output is greater than 2.5 Volts. When the battery is at a low level, the output drops below 2.5 Volts. From this point, the user has 15 days to replace the battery before the contents in the volatile memory are completely lost. Before installing this smart coin battery, ensure that the enabling adapter cables and JAE connectors are present. Also, the users need to make sure that the date code of the battery is accurate.

To begin installing the battery, the female JAE connector of the battery should be connected to the male JAE connector on the enabling cable. The female connector on the enabling cable should then be connected to the battery access port available on the Central Processing Unit. There are differences in battery access ports between RX7i and RX3i devices. For specific instructions, users can refer to the product documentation. For increasing the efficiency of the battery pack and to prolong its lifetime, power on the CPU before connecting the battery. Once the battery is connected to the system, it will start draining even when the rack power is off. Moreover, it is important to note that when the battery is not being used, the user should disconnect the enabling cable to further improve the lifespan of the battery. When disposing of a drained IC698ACC701 battery, follow the guidelines for disposal - these guidelines are available with the product.
