The GE Fanuc Emerson IC687BEM731 is a Genius bus controller that offers communication of thirty-one (31) devices to either a PACSystems RX7i or Series 90-70 system. This unit reserves in a backplane one single slot. The IC687BEM731 can be employed in many standard and redundancy applications and is compatible with many devices and PLCs. This controller has three (3) LED indicators on the faceplate to show the current status. The IC687BEM731 bus controller is mainly employed to control both the temperature and the voltage of devices. This controller contains a 9-pin HHM connector under LED indicators on the faceplate to connect a Genius hand-held monitor. The unit includes also a serial bus connector to connect with a serial bus.

The IC687BEM731 supports GBC communication and datagrams. The bus controller draws a current of 1.3 Amperes at a bus voltage of 5 Volts DC. This unit offers many configurable baud rates such as 6.8 kilobaud, 153.6 kilobaud, and 38.4 kilobaud with a maximum bus distance of 2286 meters (7500 feet). The IC687BEM731 supports many values of termination resistors at both ends of the bus cable that are: 75 ohms, 100 ohms, 120 ohms, and 150 ohms. This controller supports either shielded twisted pair cable or daisy-chain connections. The controller is conceived with the FSK modulation technology with a supported frequency range from zerp (0) kilohertz to 460.8 kilohertz.
