The IC694ALG221 from GE Fanuc is an analog current input module. This particular module is built for use with the RX3i PacSystem. This input module accepts two different input ranges: 4 to 20 milliamperes (default) and 0 to 20 milliamperes. Two range jumpers are included with this current input module. One of these jumpers is meant for the 1st and the other one for the 2nd channel. The remaining jumper is intended for the 3rd and 4th channels. The input range changes to 0-20 milliamperes when a jumper is attached to the I/O panel. The conversion speed on all four channels is half that of a millisecond, which is faster than most other modules on the market.
The conversion speed of the channels allows for a 2-millisecond update rate. This happens because each jumper has two channels. Each of them has a conversion speed rated at half a millisecond. For operation with a lowered performance at up to 200 volts common-mode, the IC694ALG221's input protection will suffice.
Using optical isolation, the module provides isolation to protect against external noise generated from the field wiring and the backplane. The IC694ALG221 can be inserted in any RX3i system's I/O slot. The module's location aids in determining the power source.
If the terminal is located inside the universal backplane, power must be provided from any external source of power as well as 24 volts direct current. Remote power is spread around using the backplane itself if it is in the remote or the expansion backplane. When the module's OK LED is on, the module's power supply is working.
