The IC660BSM021 is a Genius I/O Bus Switching Module (BSM) that enables the simultaneous connection of input/output devices to two serial buses. This module features two serial connections, a 24/48 Volt DC operating voltage, and the capability to connect up to eight I/O blocks to a dual serial bus. Additionally, the modular system may enable CPU redundancy if every bus interaction module is housed in a separate CPU.

The GE Fanuc IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module (BSM) is a twin bus switching module that enables the simultaneous connectivity of Genius I/O block devices to two serial buses. It provides a secure serial bus connection and a backup communication channel in the event of a bus failure. The IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module supports the connection of up to eight discrete and analog I/O blocks on a common serial bus, and more BSM modules may be added to increase the optimum number of blocks to 30 Genius I/O blocks. The IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module is set up via a portable monitor or CPU programming. Its operations are controlled by a Genius I/O block in the ring network.
 When using the handheld monitor or the CPU, the GE Fanuc IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module may be set to switch between the two busses (Bus A or Bus B). When Bus A is engaged, the IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module runs at less than 4 Volts Direct Current and up to 10.0 milliamperes at 24.0 Volts Direct Current and 30.0 milliamperes at 48 Volts Direct Current. When Bus B is active, it runs between 18- and 50-Volts Direct Current. The IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module is rated for a minimum of 500,000 operations and has a switch initiation time of fewer than 20 milliseconds. The IC660BSM120 Bus Switching Module is fully assembled and includes a 24/ 48 Volts Direct Current bus switching module, 3 15-inch pre-made cables, and a user manual for the Genius I/O system.
