The IC660BBD025 is a DC 32-circuit Sink I/O block. It is an intelligent, configurable block module that interfaces the controller to devices that can receive or provide binary signals. This block is compatible with 2-wire and 3-wire proximity switches along with a wide range of input devices. Output devices supported by the module can be low power control and indicating devices like lamps, contractors, and relays. It is important to note that if a user wants to provide current to the output devices instead of receiving current, an IC660BBD024 is to be used. There are two different versions of the device; Source and Sink block versions. And, each version can operate with a direct current of 12 to 24 Volts DC. The device is also compatible with +5 Volt Transistor Transistor Logic (TTL). The 32 circuits of the block can be configured for outputs, inputs, and/or output with feedback. In output configurations, the configuration of the block can protect the driver circuits against short circuits that can be caused by wiring errors.

The configuration features include Input Filter Time, Output Hold behavior, CPU Redundancy type, Output Pulse Test capability, and the readiness of the module to be used as a Bus Switching Module Control. The terminals from 5 to 46 are for connecting field devices. The user should wire the block power disconnects so that input power and block power can be removed simultaneously. This simultaneous removal of power ensures that the IC660BBD025 block will not power up unexpectedly when the attached inputs are activated. The IC660BBD025 block can handle a steady state 0.5 Amperes load during its normal operation. A handheld monitor is used for configuring block behavior and circuits. The monitor can also be used for checking the operating status with LEDs on the block’s chassis. When installing this block module, a protective case should be used, and choose a place where no airborne contamination is present. Also, ensure that the place has adequate airflow and cooling.
