ProSoft Technology, an Allen-Bradley authorized partner, manufactures the MVI56E-MCMR. The dual RS-232 serial program ports and MODBUS Serial/ASCII communication facilitate this module. There are two types of RS-232 connections available in the forms of serial (110 baud) and parallel (115.2 kbps). Serial settings that can be used include no parity, odd, or even parity; data bits of 5, 6, 7, and 8; stop bits of 1 or 2; and RTS on and off delay of 0 to 65535 milliseconds. As a bonus, this module is integrated with an RJ45 Ethernet card for debugging and configuration. This port can send and receive data at speeds of up to 10/100 base-T, and it has link and activity LEDs that show when the port is connected and when it isn't. It lets users import the manufacturer's sample ladder program or the manufacturer's add-on instruction. A tool called ProSoft configuration builder can be used to set the module's operation and parameters. The product discovery service (PDS) can also be used for this. For communication between modules and controllers, the RSLinx communication tool is used to set up the correct communication specifications. In order to install the Prosoft MVI56E-MCMR module, users need an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix processing unit with one open rack slot and 800 milliamps of power from a 5 VDC backplane power. The gadget additionally requires 3 mA from a 24 VDC power supply. This upgraded Modbus master/slave communication module must be kept in -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F), however, it can only be operated at 0 to 60°C. Sample ladder or add-on instructions are used to transport data between the MVI56E-MCMR and CPU. The gadget has a scrolling LED display with four characters for status and diagnostic information in simple English. This module may save all user configuration settings on a CF card. This allows customers to quickly replace a damaged module while transferring all configurations and data from the CF card.
