The MVI69E-MBS is a Modbus Serial communication module. It is made by ProSoft under Allen-Bradley and supports the CompactLogix series. The module is compatible with 1769 I/O modules and can be used to connect CompactLogix and MicroLogix devices to components that support the Modbus Serial protocol. This module supports data transfer with a baud rate range between 110 and 115K. It supports I/O using 16-bit integers and supports I/O sizes of 60, 120, and 240. It supports add-on profiles to provide increased functionality. The module is compatible with add-on instructions that can be used to create User Defined Data Types. It provides diagnostic and operational data output in the controller tags of the processor. The MVI69E-MBS is able to support up to ten thousand (10,000) words of data and up to 250 commands through the Modbus protocol on each port. All ports can be used to create slave or master devices and is configurable for function, address, and bit count. The module also supports the SCADA architecture, as well as floating point data in the Enron and Daniel implementations. Supported Modbus modes include RTU with CRC-16 and ASCII with error checking using LRC. This module has a current draw of 500 milliamperes at 5 volts DC. It occupies one slot in a 1769 chassis, and it has a power supply distance rating of 4. The provided ports include RS-232 with handshaking, RS-485, and RS-422. It features integrated LED indicators that provide system status information.
