A photoelectric laser sensor, the 45BPD-8LTB2-D5, is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation that is part of the 45BPD sensor series. It runs on 18-28 volt DC power and has a rated current of 40 mA. It features analog outputs, a sensing range of 30 to 100 mm, a measuring range of 70 mm, and a spot size of 1.5 x 3 mm at 3.25 mm. It has an IP67 casing, visible red lighting, and a Class 2 laser. This laser sensor has a side-through hole, a teach button, analog, and discrete outputs, DC LO or DO selectable, and a five-pin micro fast disconnect. Its analog output sensor is a Class 1 visible red laser detector with an analog and a discrete output. The teach-in buttons and status lights on the top of the sensor are used to put it in place. The triangulation method is used in this sensor to get very precise measurements, and the red beam spot makes it easier to align small parts for testing and detection. Cost and space are both added because the sensor is in an IP67 container and doesn't need any outer control equipment. The 45BPD sensor can be easily installed by putting it where the target is in the sensor's operating range and setting the setpoints that are needed for the application. An analog 4 to 20 milliamps output can be added to the sensor. The sensor can be set up to have a separate PNP output as well N.O. and N.C. The analog output is automatically scaled with either a positive or negative slope between the two set points, so it can be either positive or negative. There are many different uses for the 45BPD sensor. It can be used for things like distance measurement and component profiling. It can also be used for things like error checking, inspecting, checking material location, holes, warpage, and position.
