The ProSoft 3150-MCM Modbus Master/Slave Communication Module assists the communication between SLC processors and a wide range of devices that are compatible with Modbus protocol. The backplane current load of this product is 800 milliamperes at 5 volts DC. It has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity surrounding this product should be 5 to 95% without condensation.

The ProSoft 3150-MCM Modbus is a Master/Slave Communication Module. It assists the communication by helping the SLC processor interface with a wide range of devices that are compatible with Modbus protocol. Between the automation backplane and network, this module plays the role of an input/output unit. This module consists of an embedded 4000 word register space. This register space assists the smooth data transfer between the network and the processor. It should be noted that the data transfer that takes place from the processor is asynchronous from the network. There are three major types of data that can be transferred to the module. It includes configurable data, which is required for serial port configuration. Then there is command data that helps set up valid commands for the module. At the last there is data memory, which assists in read/write requests received and sent by the module. The Modbus protocol is supported by a wide range of SCADA packages. The 3150-MCM has many important features and benefits. The maximum number of entries that can be made in the command list is 100. It also supports continuous polling and register write commands. It also provides modem and radio support. Different interfaces such as RS-485, RS-422 and RS-232C that are widely used are also supported by this module. Due to the countless benefits and features that it offers, the module finds numerous applications in many industries worldwide such as mining, pipelines and offshore platforms, SCADA communications, food industry and foreign device data concentrators.
