The 170948's, or the 1395-170948's, main job is to act as a power and signal distributor in the driver control system. The power interface board functions in such a way that it distributes signals and power to the main control board, as well as other boards in the drive control system. The current rating of this particular model is 3.6 to 345 amperes. The device is specifically designed for DC drives motor control systems. The PSI unit provides the following operations. First off, it supplies DC power to the main control board through the power supply unit. Secondly, it provides 3-phase line synchronization signals to the control board. Third, it takes data from the central control board and generates logic and drivers for armature and field-pulse transformers. Finally, it receives start/stop logic signals, protection I/O, and drivers for running the main DC contactor. Controlled voltages are routed through the PSI board for distribution to the other boards in the system. The scaled voltage signal from the feedback board is routed through the PSI board to be sent to the main control board. Four (4) bus connections are connected from the power stage interface board to the gate interface board. The Jumper J11 at positions 1-2 are for motor thermal input (115 volts AC), 2-3 for DC motor thermal input (24 volts DC). The jumper J12 is for reset input for AC and DC inputs. The 1395-170948 is a replacement part and requires a professional to install and configure. This is a product of Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation.
