The Allen Bradley 8520-FOP is an operator interface from the 8520 CNC controllers series. This type of product is the best fit for the human machine interface (HMI) devices that provide a man to machine interface that best serves usability goals while allowing monitoring flexibility. 

This operator interface takes user input through a keypad, for the touchscreen facility is not available on this unit. Its screen size is 10.5 inches. It is a legacy type device that works with most legacy systems. In addition, the avenues that it is most used include product packaging, manufacturing, and motion control systems applications. The unit features a sturdy case and allows straightforward configuration that is done through a panel door with a properly isolated electrical enclosure. Besides that, this operator interface is not suitable for low level humidity conditions since its enclosure type is IP 20, which is not as effective as some of the higher ratings. Therefore, operators should ensure that this module does not directly contact either moisture or hazardous substances outdoors.

Nevertheless, according to the manufacturer's directives, it is suitable for indoor usage at appropriate temperature ratings. Aside from that, its power dissipation rating is 2.49W. However, users must take care of the proper dissipation enclosure. In this regard, users can arrange proper ventilation to maintain the temperature of this operator interface. The integration of this module through a configuration tool can be done with the help of a cable to interface a robust connection for the proper programming and configuration.
