The 100-C85J10 is a non-magnetic, non-reversible IEC contactor by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. This contactor has a current rating of 85 amperes. The 100-C85J10 is the only contactor in the 100-C series that offers such a high current rating for motor control systems. The contactor is a switch for turning ON/OFF the motors in a motor control system. Switching of squirrel cage motor is one of the main applications of the 100-C85J10 contactor.

For a motor control system that is comprised of high-power motors, the 100-C85J10 is an excellent choice. This contactor can switch an inductive load with a current rating of a maximum of 85 amperes and has a coil voltage rating of 24 volts at 60 hertz. The supported power rating for this contactor is 15 horsepower at 115 volts or 25 Hp at 230 volts AC. The terminals on this contactor are placed on the side for easy access and all the terminals are of screw type. The contactor does have an IP2X rating for finger protection against hazardous parts. This device has (3) three poles with (1) one auxiliary contact, which is controlled by the coil. Like the other contactors in the series, the 100-C85J10 does not have protection against water or dust and must be mounted in a panel box or a DIN rail that measures 35 millimeters. The optional accessories are all standard throughout the 100-C series, like surge suppressors, pneumatic timers, latches, and locks.  

This contactor does not operate well under high humidity or high-temperature conditions and must be operated in an environment with a temperature less than 40 degrees Celsius. This device does not offer protection against over-current; hence a separate over-current protection module is recommended. A terminal or a terminal lug kit can also be used with this contactor and a coil spare-part with model number TE-013 can also be used. When replacing a contactor make sure to go through the instructions and practice safety.
