The 509-DOD is a starter module that is made by Allen-Bradley. It is included in the Bulletin 509 series. This starter is intended for use with polyphase squirrel cage motors. It is operable using Remote I/O as well. It features an electronic overload relay with an optional communication module. It uses Snap-together wiring technology. The module is available in enclosure ratings of Type 1, 3R, 12, 4, and 4 X stainless steel as well as 7 and 9 hazardous location modules. The module meets NEMA 3 standards and is available in NEMA sizes from 00 to 9. The 509 is a non-reversing type starter module. It has a short circuit current rating (SCCR) of up to 85 Kilo Ampere Interrupting Capacity. The module is vertically arranged with the Bulletin 505V in sizes 0 to 5. It is featured in a modular kit. The supported power supply type is three phase. The control voltage that is used with this module is 110 Volts to 120 Volts at an input frequency range between 50 Hertz and 60 Hertz. The starter module’s overload relay is made out of a eutectic alloy. The relay contains a Normally Open (N.O) auxiliary contact which is installed from the factory by the manufacturer. It is not used for contactors that have the part numbers 502L, 503, 503L, and 512. The dimensions of the module vary with the enclosure NEMA size selected. The weight of the module also depends on the size and type of enclosure that is used.
