The Allen-Bradley 5069-OB16 is a sophisticated digital module that can be used to create an effective output interface within the control system. The output module has the ability to detect losses in field power and produces excellent performance characteristics at voltages ranging from 12 volts to 24 volts of direct current. The output module has a total of 16 sourcing channels that allow the device to connect to other components of the industrial automation system. The module has a maximum thermal dissipation of 11.09 British Thermal Units (BTU) per hour and is designed to minimize the electrical losses that occur during the operation of the system. The 16 channels on the device are highly versatile and can be used in conjunction with any combination of devices in the control system.

The Allen-Bradley 5069-OB16 is a highly compact device and functions on a digital platform to accentuate the efficiency of the control system. The on-state voltage of the module is rated within a range of 10 volts and 32 volts of direct current with a nominal value of 24 volts of direct current. The off-state leakage current per point does not exceed a maximum value of 0.5 milliamperes. The module can be isolated by using a continuous isolation voltage of 250 volts of direct current. The device weighs 175 grams and does not need to be housed in a specific enclosure. The module can be mounted on a chromate-passivated steel DIN rail and its modular design ensures that stringent space requirements do not need to be met to house the component.

It has one indicator for module status and 16 indicators for channel status. The 5069-OB16 module features outputs that are configurable even when the module is in a fault state or program mode. The configuration options include ON, OFF, and hold last state. The module has an approximate weight of 175 grams (0.39 pounds). Care needs to be taken to protect the module from electrostatic discharge (ESD), as exposure to ESD can affect operation and even result in internal damage to the device. This module has a rated ESD immunity of up to 6 kilovolts for contact and 8 kilovolts for air discharges.
