The 440G-L07258 Atlas 5 series guard locking switch is used in heavy duty applications. Its locking mechanism can withstand forces up to 5000 N (1124 pounds). It has a die-cast alloy housing body that can tolerate harsh environments. The Atlas 5 switch has a patented self-aligning head that is forgiving towards minor misalignments in actuator or guard which is ideal for heavy machinery guard applications. It is a positive-mode, tongue-operated guard-locking interlock switch which locks a machine guard in closed position until its power is isolated and continues to be isolated when the guard is open. This is for the machines that are not required to or are too dangerous to stop immediately. The switch has two safety (normally closed) and two auxiliary contacts and the switch is PLC controlled. The solenoid is power to release type locking with a power supply of 24 volts alternating or direct current and a solenoid power of 13 Watts. It has a break contact force of 12 N minimum (2.7 lb-ft) and actuation speed of 160 millimeters (6.29 inches) per second. It can be operated at a maximum actuation frequency of 2 cycles per second. It has an operating radius of 300 millimeters at the end entry and 800 millimeters at the entry front. It is rated for an operating life of 1 million operations at a 100 milliampere load. The switch has an enclosure rating of IP65 and operating temperature range of -10 to 60 degrees Celsius (14 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The actuator is stainless steel and the switch weighs 1200 grams (2.65 pounds).
