The 40888-490-01-S1FX SMC Dialog Plus controller is designed for soft start, current limit start with selectable kickstart as well as dual ramp and full voltage start. It also offers expanded protective features, metering and communication capabilities. The enhanced starting and stopping performance includes soft stop, pump control, preset slow speed, Smart Motor Braking (SMB) , Accu-Stop, and Slow Speed with Braking. It has selectable kickstart that provides a pulse of current 550% of the full load current and time can be adjusted from 0.0 to 2.0 seconds. Soft start feature allows the motor to get initial torque set by the user ranging from 0 to 90% of the locked rotor torque and ramp time adjustment from 0 to 30 seconds. The user can also set a current limit level from 50% to 600% of the motor full load amp rating and time limit of 0 to 30 seconds. Dual ramp start lets the user select the ramp profile at each soft start.

A full voltage start will provide motor 100% voltage in 0.25 seconds. The SMC Dialog Plus controller works on three-phase squirrel case motor rated 1-1000A; 200-480 Volts AC or 200-600 Volts AC; 50-60 Hertz. The phase rebalancing in the SMC Dialog Plus controller continuously monitors and automatically adjusts the output voltage to balance the three phase currents drawn by the motor. The unit has stall protection with adjustability from 0.0 to 10.0 seconds and jam detection where trip level can be preset. The number of starts per hour can be limited to an allowable limit. All the programming can be done with the built-in keypad and the display with two-line sixteen character backlit LCD. There is a four-level menu and simple text format is used for programming.
