The Allen-Bradley 2198-H070-ERS is a state-of-the-art servo drive that belongs to Rockwell Automation’s Series of Kinetix 5500 Servo Drives. It has an innovative and compact design that requires affordable panel space and only one cable that can be used to simplify system wiring. It has a smaller footprint with optimized power density which makes it ideal in situations where control panel space is an issue. It can run servo and induction motors in a single drive platform. This reduces the number of spare parts required by standardizing on a single platform. This also simplifies system operation and maintenance.

The Allen-Bradley 2198-H070-ERS delivers high performance and scalability at a low cost with the motor windings matched to the drive ratings to provide more efficient system sizing. The 2198-H070-ERS also has dual Ethernet ports that offer a support system to linear and DLR (Device Level Ring) topologies. The CompactLogix, ControlLogix, and GuardLogix controllers connected to the servo drive support the integrated motion on the EtherNet/IP network. It requires a three-phase input voltage ranging between 190 volts and 528 volts of alternating current at a nominal frequency of either 50 Hertz or 60 Hertz. The device gives a continuous output current of 32.5 amperes and a peak output current of 57.5 amperes. It has a sophisticated display screen that provides improved system diagnostics and tuning. It weighs only 9 pounds or 4.1 kilograms and is 11.57 inches long, 3.35 inches wide and 8.9 inches deep. It can be operated in environments with temperatures ranging from 0° Celsius to 50° Celsius.

The Kinetix 5500 drives use internal solid-state motor short-circuit protection and, when protected by suitable branch circuit protection, are rated for use on a circuit capable of delivering up to 200,000 A (fuses) and 65,000 A (circuit breakers).
