Designed for a feedback control system, the 100S-C85KF22C is a load isolation safety contactor from Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation. The contactor has an eighty-five (85)-ampere load current rating (AC-3) or a one hundred (100)-ampere load current rating (AC-1). The 100S-C85KF22C has three (3) main power poles and a normally open (N.O.) auxiliary contact and 4 normally closed (N.C.) auxiliary contacts. The difference between a traditional and a safety contactor is that a safety contactor is designed to have its auxiliary contacts connected to the contactors and they cannot be removed. This feature of the safety contactor's design removes the possibility of auxiliary contacts getting separated from the main contacts due to vibration or shock. In a normal contactor, auxiliary contacts can be snapped on and off.
The contactors come with a red highlighted color to distinguish them from a traditional contactor. The 100S-C85KF22C supports different types of accessories. Mechanical Interlocks can be attached on the side of the contactor, an Interface module on the coil terminal side, and a surge suppressor on the coil terminal side. The entire operation of a safety contactor relies on how quickly it can open its contacts when a load needs to be isolated from the system. The opening time on this contactor is approximately 20 milliseconds. The contactor can be mounted inside a panel box and on a supported DIN rail. It measures approximately 72 millimeters x 122 millimeters x 156 millimeters (width x height x depth). The contactor is third-party, SUVA certified. It comes with IEC, CSA, UL, CE & EN certifications or standards.
