Part number 2711-CBL-PM05 was designed by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation, and it is an operating and programming cable for the transfer of data between industrial systems and personal computers, or PCs. This runtime communication cable is capable of connecting communication ports of a PanelView 300 Micro standard terminal to SLC controllers on channel 0 (CH0) using the DF1 communication protocol, as well as using its RS-232 and DH-485 protocols. Additionally, this 9-pin D-shell to 8 pin mini DIN cable connects the PanelView 300 Micro standard terminals to Allen Bradley's PLC-5 controllers on channel 0 (CH0) and channel 2 (CH2) using its DF1 protocol, as well as to Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500LRP controllers on channel 1 (CH1) or MicroLogix 1400 on channel 2 (CH2) using either the DF1 or DH-485 protocols. Furthermore, this runtime communication cable can interface PanelView standard terminals with ControlLogix controllers using the DF1 protocol, as well as with 1761-NET-AIC interface modules on port 1 using the DF1 or DH-485 protocols. Additionally, it can also connect PanelView standard terminals to 176-NETDNI or 1771-NET-ENI interface modules using the DF1 protocol.

The Allen Bradley 2711-CBL-PM05 communication cable’s 9-pin D shell pinout is connected to the 8-pin mini-DIN. Thus, the connections are as follows: pin 9 on the D-shell to pin 1 on the mini-DIN, pin 5 to pin 2, pin 7 to pin 6, pin 8 to pin 3, pin 1 to pin 5, pin 2 to pin 7, pin 3 to pin 4, and pin 4 to pin 6.
