IC200MDL644 by GE Fanuc is a discrete Input Module. It has four groups of eight discrete inputs which makes a total of 32 input points. The backplane is responsible for supplying power to the module. The inputs can either be positive logic inputs or negative logic inputs. In positive logic inputs, the current is received from input devices and sent to the common. In negative logic inputs, the current is received from common and sent to the input devices. For TTL devices, the negative logic configuration has to be used. For this module intelligent processing is done by CPU or NIU. There are green LEDs present that show on and off status of each individual input point. The green OK LED represents backplane power status. The module has to be installed following all installation guidelines properly. It is to be noted that the basic on and off response time for this module is given as 0.25 ms. The IC200MDL644 registers a user input current of 1.8 mA at 5 VDC or 4.9 mA at 12 VDC. Some applications may require the need to install added filtering to restore noise or switch bounce so that accurate results can be achieved. For filtering, software configuration is required to set the time. To set filter time, there are a number of options to choose from depending upon the application type. By default, the filter time is set to 1 ms. This module is used in many different industrial applications. Proper hot insertion is important during installation to avoid any damage to the backplane.
