The IC697MEM735 is a memory expansion module. The IC697MEM735 module is produced by GE Fanuc Automation and is categorized as Series 90-70 of the GE programmable controllers. It is available in four configurations. The four-module configurations include 128 KB, 256 KB plus non-volatile flash memory 256 Kilobytes, and 512 Kilobytes. The IC697MEM735 memory module adds CMOS memory to the GE 780, 781, 782, 788, and 789 CPUs without requiring an extra slot for installation. The IC697MEM735 module maintains the CPU's memory. This is because the IC697MEM735 module has a lithium battery to guarantee that user memory does not vanish in the event of a power failure. Additionally, the lithium battery is essential for maintaining the accuracy of the calendar clock on the PLC or CPU. Whenever a lithium battery has to be replaced, it is recommended that the new battery be installed before removing the old battery.
 At an ideal working temperature of 20 degrees Celsius or 68 degrees Fahrenheit, the 32-bit GE Fanuc IC697MEM735 CMOS expansion memory module has a shelf life of around ten years. Without applied power, the memory retention is up to 6 months notional. The IC697MEM735 memory module is compliant with VME standards and has a maximum of 2.25 amps current rating for the memory extension module and CPU chip.
