The IC695NKT002 is an Ethernet Network Interface Unit kit from GE Fanuc Automation for the GE Fanuc RX3i Control systems. This kit contains two modules - an IC695NIU001 Ethernet Network Interface Unit (NIU) and an IC695ETM Ethernet transmitter module. This NIU starter kit provides Series 90-30 Control systems and RX3i PACSystems with Ethernet communication and control features. Once this kit is installed, there is an automatic data exchange between the CPU and the connected devices, and the Ethernet module provides system control through any master devices supporting the Ethernet global data exchange. The Ethernet NIU kit provides RX3i controllers and Series 90-30 modules with information about device status about the exchange of data over the Ethernet network.
The standard feature of the Ethernet Network Interface Unit kit includes a high-speed data exchange through the Ethernet Global Data or EGD feature, high-speed TCP/IP communication using SRTP protocol, 20 Kilobytes of optional Logic memory supporting several programming languages except for the C language, and ten (10) Megabytes of built-in flash memory for user data storage. It includes a real-time clock backed by a lithium battery and an ungradable system firmware. The NIU starter kit also features built-in RS-232 and RS-485 serial ports, support for processes with redundant controllers, and extensive station management tools. It comes with a front end 3 position stop/run switch, which is disabled by default and can be enabled by the configuration of the NIU’s setting tab. The module has eight (8) LED indicators to display the operational and diagnostics status of the module. This IC695NKT002 starter kit is designed to be installed on a GE Series 90-30 or RX3i rack and draws the operational power from the backplane.
The GE Fanuc IC695NKT002 Ethernet NIU Kit is an Ethernet Network Interface Unit (NIU). It is part of the GE RX3i Control System. There are 2 Ethernet modules - one IC695NIU001 Ethernet NIU module and one IC695ETM001 Ethernet transmitter module. It helps with establishing Ethernet communication, and control capabilities for the Series 90-30 control systems, and the RX3i PACSystems. After it is installed properly, connection between the CPU, and the connected device is automatic. Furthermore, the Ethernet module will provide system control via any connected device, such as the CPU, that supports global data exchange over an Ethernet connection. As mentioned above, this NIU module is compatible with Series 90-30 and RX3i controllers. It provides the connected devices with status information.
The GE Fanuc IC695NKT002 NIU Ethernet Kit comes packed with many advanced features. The first such feature is the feature of high-speed data exchange via the Ethernet Global Data (EGD). The next feature for this module is the high-speed TCP/IP communication using SRTP. Unlike other such NIU modules it comes with 10 megabytes of built-in flash memory. Furthermore, it comes with optional logic memory of 20 kilobytes. This optional logic memory comes with support for a number of programming languages.
Unfortunately, the GE Fanuc IC695NKT002 Ethernet NIU Kit does not support the C programming language. Other advanced features on this module include an upgradeable system firmware, and a lithium real-time clock with battery backup. It comes equipped with RS-232, and RS-485 serial ports. There is a 3-position front-end switch for run/stop functions on this module as well.
