Part number IC670MDD441 is an I/O module that has a total of 16 inputs and outputs. This device, which was manufactured by GE Fanuc, is part of the Field Control I/O Module series of products. This device has six (6) outputs and ten (10) inputs. The IC670MDD441 is a direct current (DC) module that runs at 24 volts DC. The input circuits and output circuits of this device are all discrete I/O. Therefore, these circuits all communicate with one another through a shared line. The outputs of this device are equipped with short circuit protection, as well as electronic over current protection. These outputs are capable of sending out an alert in the event a short circuit or over current occurs. Upon the occurrence of a defect, the output that is suffering the fault will be turned off, and the error will be communicated to the system's BIU, which stands for Bus Interface Unit.
The IC670MDD441 is powered by the system's BIU, which also serves as the system's power supply. However, the switches of the system, require an external DC source to power on. When the matching inputs of this device are switched on, the green LEDs (light emitting diodes), that are located on the module's side, will illuminate. The bi-color LEDs light up green when their respective outputs are switched on, and when they are experiencing problems, they will glow orange. The "PWR" LED illuminates green when this device is powered by logic and user power. When this GE Fanuc I/O module is powered off, the "PWR" LED is turned off as well.
