The 2707-L8P2 operator interface unit, from Allen-Bradley, is a DTAM Plus operator interface module. This component provides direct connectivity to Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including the PLC5 and SLC 500 series. This package enables users, programmers, and operators to obtain data, troubleshoot, and alter the PLC's settings.
User interaction is enabled through the inbuilt keypad, which has 25 keys. Additionally, the integrated keys have an LED indication that illuminates to indicate the presence of an error. The 2707-L8P2 has one (1) RS232 / RS485 communication port for multi-drop communication, and point-to-point. To allow remote I/O (RIO) communication, an optional Remote I/O (RIO) interface could be added. This hardware consists of an 8K user memory and allows for the setup of up to 244 data displays. Additionally, it facilitates the implementation of the recipe function, which enables block modification. This function allows for the download of up to ten non-sequential registers per address.
This module's rear panel has power connections, protection fuses, communication ports, and six (6) DIP switches. The dip switches are used to configure the interface module's operational parameters. Upload and enable, terminal mode enable, communication port selection, function key enable, master security enable, and comm upload/download enable are all operational parameters.
Individual LED indicators are built in the incorporated function keys to show if the device is operating correctly. If a fault occurs, a yellow light will blink continuously until the alert is acknowledged by an operator. Additionally, the 2707-L8P2's screen has a recipe function that enables the user to write several controller identifiers in a single action. For the operator's convenience, data may be shown on the screen in both digitized and graphical formats. Additionally, a detachable cover conceals a 6-position DIP switching on the module's rear. This option enables the user to configure the operating system.
It is critical to put the 2707-L8P2 operational interface panel unit on a panel or in a container to safeguard the module's electronics. While installing, enough room for ventilation must be given to maintain the device's operational temperature range of 0 to 45 degrees Celsius. Six self-locking nuts are used to secure the device, which should be tightened to no more than 8 to 10 pounds on an inch. The machine is powered by an 85 to 265 volts AC power source with a refresh rating between 47 – 440 hertz or a 110 and 300 volts DC power supply. AWG no. 16 or 14 stranded wires will be used to power the gadget. Proper grounding of the item is also critical to avoid sounds caused by electromagnetic interference. As with previous DTAM Plus devices, the 2707-L8P2 comes with a pre-configured DH-485 application file.
