This is the PowerFlex 1203-USB module by Allen-Bradley. It is a USB converter module that provides connectivity for the DSI, DPI, and SCANport drive interfaces. This converter is able to auto-baud to the drive’s specified data communication rate. The USB converter module has integrated LED indicators that display the converter’s operational status. For connectivity, the module operates in accordance with the Universal Serial Bus (USB) protocols. It provides data transfer speeds of up to 115.2 kilobits per second. The PowerFlex 1203 features BCC or CRC error detection with automatic detection capability. It has 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. The supported protocols for the 1203-USB converter include DPI featuring a data rate of 125 kilobits or up to 250 kilobits per second, a 19.2 Kilobit per second data rate using DSI, and a 125 kilobit per second data transfer rate using SCANport. The 1203-USB eliminates the requirement for a dedicated power source by only consuming power from the host drive that is connected to it. The converter uses 130 milliamperes at 12 Volts DC for SCANport and DPI and 170 milliamperes at 5 Volts DC for DSI drive. The operating temperature range for this unit is between 0 degrees and 50 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity range for operation specified at 5 percent to 95 percent (non-condensing).
