The Allen-Bradley 1203-GK1 is a Remote I/O communications module. It allows I/O communication to a processor using a serial link. This module allows the user to create a direct digital link to connect one SCANport component with a programmable controller (PLC) module by Allen-Bradley. Each 1203-GK1 module allows a connection to only 1 SCANport device at a time. The module is protected by an enclosure that is rated as NEMA Type 1. A power supply that gives 24 Volt DC input power is required by this communications module. The module has a SCANport load rating of 60 milliamperes DC. The maximum input current is 0.4 Amperes. Baud rates for the 1203-GK1 are specified at 57.6K, 115.2K, and 230.4K. This unit supports mounting on a DIN Rail. Compatible rack sizes for this module are ¼, ½, ¾, and full. The dimensions of this module are 76 x 45 x 123 millimeters (3 x 1.8 x 4.8 inches). Supported Allen-Bradley drive models include the SMC Dialog Plus, the 1305 AC Micro, and the 1394 AC Multi-Axis Motion Control system. Drives in the 1336 series including the IMPACT, FORCE, REGEN, SPIDER, PLUS, and PLUS II are also supported. This module includes DIP switches that may be used for system configuration. SCANport and Remote I/O cables are a requirement for this module. The 1203-GK1 module is sensitive to static electricity. Care must be taken during installation, uninstallation, and maintenance to protect the component from electrostatic discharge to avoid the possibility of damage to the unit.
