The 1203-CN1 by Allen-Bradley is a communication module. This module is a ControlNet communications module that is one of the many open communication networks out there. For this module, the input voltage is twenty-four (24) volts DC. Additionally, the input current for this module is two hundred and fifty (250) milliamperes. This module finds use in multiple applications because it deals with unscheduled messaging, redundant media, and different deterministic input / output controls. One SCANport device can be connected at a time. This connection has to be established via SCANport cable. A standard SCANport connector with 8 pin circular mini DIN is also needed. The modules should be installed by trained professionals who have experience installing SCANport devices. Similarly, maintenance and services should also be performed by trained technical staff. Failure to do so may result in damage to the product and the environment. It should be noted that the module is made from such materials that have a high sensitivity towards electrostatic discharge. Therefore, it is neccessary to take all the necessary precautions when installing and operating these modules. Failure to take these precautions may damage the controller. For mounting, there is a DIN rail slot present. This module also has one (1) RS-232 serial communications port and one (1) ControlNet network access port present. For connection status, there are LEDs present. Before applying power, the node address of this module has to be set. Special care should be taken while doing this so that the module is not damaged in any way.
