The 100-D140EJ11, which is an IEC contactor, requires a coil voltage rating of 380 volts AC at 60 hertz to operate its auxiliary contacts. This contactor was designed by Allen-Bradly / Rockwell Automations. This device can easily switch inductive load i.e.: motors rated 140 amperes or less. It is a three-pole contactor with two (2) auxiliary terminals that activate when the electronic coil is energized. This contactor has an open-type enclosure and, therefore, is required to be mounted in a panel box to avoid environmental factors from affecting the quality of the product. Since the contacts are screw-type, it is very easy for a user to attach the wire to it. The device does offer IP2X protection for fingers to prevent users from accidentally touching electrical/hazardous parts of the construction.
Due to its high power rating, installing the device in a well-ventilated area is recommended as the operating temperature should not exceed forty (40) degrees Celsius. To prevent power surges, a surge suppressor can be used to prevent damage to the device or the entire system. An IP20 terminal block can also be used to increase the number of terminals. The power rating for the 100-D140EJ11 is 45 kilowatts at 230 volts AC 3-phase, and 111 kilowatts at 690 volts AC 3-phase. Other applications for contactors can be controlling thermal evaporators, lighting, capacitor banks, and heating. Follow the instructional manual when installing to prevent accidents. All the contactors in the Bulletin 100 series come with IEC, CSA, and UL certifications.
