For controlling high-power motor systems, part number 100-D140 is a very powerful IEC contactor that can be used for switching. This contactor was designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The contactor can handle a load current of up to 140 amperes and features 3 poles. The coil on this contactor has a voltage rating of 120 volts AC. This contractor, however, does not have an auxiliary contact. The device is compatible with three-phase motors and supports a power rating of 50 horsepower at 230 volts AC at 60 hertz, or 125 horsepower at 575 volts AC at 60 hertz. It is necessary for the contactor to operate in an environment with a temperature less than 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius), for the contactor to operate properly.
Users can access the contact terminals from the front and the terminals can be adjusted using a standard Phillips screwdriver. The manufacturer recommends mounting the device on a DIN rail in a panel box since the contactor does not have IP water protection or dust protection ratings. The 100-D140 contactor is suitable for use with circuits that can deliver 10000 rms symmetrical amperes, 600 volts maximum. The max fuse rating for the contactor is 350 amperes and the max circuit breaker rating of 200 amperes. Multiple accessories with this contactor are available such as terminal kits, terminal lug kits, surge suppressors, and mechanical latches. This contactor is not a compact device it has dimensions of 120 mm x 170 mm x 156 mm (width x depth x height).
