Part number 825-MD was designed and produced by Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation and is a basic smart motor manager. Its advantage over the traditional motor starters is that the diagnostic data and the status can be directly sent to the programmable logic control (PLC) and the digital combat simulator without adding interconnecting wires or the traditional input-output interface thus saving on a lot of cost. The 825-MD device is for three phase motors and its rated voltage ranges from 120 volts to 220 volts while operating at a frequency of 50 hertz to 60 hertz. The rated current of this device is 0.5 to 2000 amperes, whereas the thermal current, which is continuous, is 4 amperes.
In order to input data, the device features a keypad and constitutes of an LCD with a capacity of displaying a single-text line. However, it is capable of displaying two lines of text consecutively. In case of a fault or an error within the system, the 825-MD motor manager features a light emitting diode (LED) that indicate the errors.
The external conditions suitable for the device are functional temperatures that lies between minus (-) 5 to 60 degrees Celsius, whereas when the device is not functional, the temperature should be between minus (-) 40 to 60 degrees Celsius. The device can be subjected to shock up to 3 G and it is resistant to vibration up to 10 to 150 hertz. To protect the delicate electrical components from environmental exposure, the enclosure has a type (NEMA) 4 rating of IP65.
