Part number 2706-D11J2 is a Dataliner message display that belongs to the 2706 DL5 family of message displays. It has its own memory where it stores messages of various lengths. When it receives a command from the control system, the saved messages get displayed. These messages are used to display a status condition, assist in problem diagnosis, or prompt an operator. It is a one (1)-line display with a character height of 6.65 millimeters. It only displays upper-case alphanumeric characters. It can display up to 16 characters per line. However, 16-character blocks are strung together to create longer messages. It has a 2 kilobyte memory storage and can store 94 blocks of messages. Each block consists of 16 characters. It does not need a battery backup as it stores messages in an EEPROM. This display comes with both serial and parallel ports, and only one port can be used at a time to trigger stored messages. For its operation, it requires an input voltage of 12 to 24 volts direct current (DC). At 12 volts, it requires a maximum current of 250 milliamperes. At 24 volts, it draws 125 milliamperes from the power supply. Its parallel port requires 5 to 12 volts DC. It can be operated in multiple modes, such as round-robin mode, numeric mode, Binary or BCD input mode, and debug mode. It comes with an RS-232 serial port for programming. This port is also used as a serial trigger for messages. The operating temperature for this device should fall within a range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius.
