The Allen Bradley 160-BA04PSF1 is a variable frequency drive for AC induction motors up to 2 Hp, an input voltage range of 340 - 506 V AC with 50 to 60 Hz, 3 phase, and a maximum output current of 4 amps. The output voltage can be changed from 0 to 460V AC, and modulation frequency from 0 - 240 Hz. This is a model from Allen Bradley 160 SSC early series and at the beginning was developed for small drive applications ( 0.5 to 2 Hp), later expanded to 5 Hp. The drive uses PWM (Pulse-width modulation) in order to control effective output voltage. It can be programmed for specific application and the main parameters are acceleration time, deceleration time, maximum frequency, stop mode select, base frequency, base voltage, motor overload current, input mode, output configuration, preset speed model, and preset frequency 0–7. All these parameters can be programmed using keypad and the drive can be adjusted to application requirements. The 160-BA04PSF1 has internal 12V DC power supply to enable some control inputs. Using them it is possible to provide external control input of 4 – 20 milliamperes or 0 to +10V DC, or remote potentiometer to control the output motor speed. Also, the drive can be configured to run forward/reverse with predefined speeds. Controller operational status and fault code numbers (if they exists) are displayed at front panel or on the LEDs. This unit has a cooling fan which will keep the drive in operating temperature range. The ambient temperature range for this device is thirty-two to one hundred and twenty-two (32 to 122) degrees Fahrenheit.
