The Allen Bradley 1791D-8B8P is an input/output combination module. It has 8 sinking inputs and 8 sourcing outputs. The name combination module comes from its ability to be configured as mixed with input and output channels. There is a difference between compact block modules with remote I/O interface (RIO) and 1791D modules. The 1791 series have a DeviceNet I/O interface integrated within the product's design. This interface is connected to a network known as the DeviceNet network. DeviceNet modules receive power from the network and the I/O communication module is a master/slave communication type. The choice depends on the application itself, but it is clear that if the change-of-state mode is applied, the network will not be occupied until some change has happened and for that time, the network bus will be free. The 1791D-8B8P can be connected with expansion output module to get 8 inputs/24 outputs or expansion input module to get 24 input/8 output channels. The maximum off-state voltage of this device is five (5) volts and the minimum off-state current is 1.5 milliamperes at five (5) volts DC (direct current). The maximum on-state voltage is thirty (30) volts DC at 40 °C and 25 volts DC at 60 °C. The minimum on-state voltage is 10 volts DC. The maximum on-state current is eleven (11) milliamperes at 30 volts DC and the minimum on-state current is 2 milliamperes at 10 volts DC. The DeviceNet trunk bus takes the power for both the extended modules and the base. This product may be mounted via DIN rail or a panel. This Allen-Bradley product's recommended operating temperature that should be maintained within the range of 32 to 140 °F (0 to 60 °C).
