Allen-Bradley's 1791D-16B0 input module is a 1791D series CompactBlock I/O module. It is a CompactBlock base input device with sixteen (1^) sinking inputs. Additionally, the 1791D-16B0 base input unit is equipped with a DeviceNet I/O adapter and an integrated power supply. When used alone, it may generate two (2) input bytes. However, when used in conjunction with an expansion input module, the 1791D-16B0 basic input module may generate five (5) input bytes. When used in conjunction with an extension output module, however, this device can generate three (3) input bytes.

The 1791D-16B0 is an Allen-Bradley manufactured CompactBlock I/O series 16-sinking input-base module. It has I/O circuits, a DeviceNet adapter, and a power supply. It has a maximum two (2) sections of eight (8) inputs per block. At 40 degrees Celsius, its voltage during its off-stage is 5 volts, while during its on-stage, the voltage varies between 10 volts DC and 30 volts DC. With a minimum supply voltage of 5 volts DC, the 1791D-16B0's off-state current is 1.5 milliamperes, with a maximum supply voltage of 30 volts DC and a range of 2 milliamperes to 11 milliamperes at a voltage level of 10 volts DC. Additionally, the 1791D-16B0 current load is set to 200 milliamperes.

IEC IP20 is the enclosure type for the 1791D-16B0. In addition, this device has a non-condensing relative humidity range that should remain between 0 percent and 95 percent. Furthermore, the operating temperature range of this device should remain between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius. The 1791D-16B0, like the other CompactBlock I/O modules, has a removable screw-type clamp connector strip that can be easily replaced. Additionally, it incorporates DeviceLogix Smart Component Technology. The 1791D-16B0 module also generates one byte for every eight inputs. When an extension block is added to it, an additional byte is provided indicating the expansion block's state.

CompactBlock I/O modules of this series, notably the 1791D-16B0, are suited for use in space-constrained applications. Additionally, they are compatible with programmable controllers based on SoftLogix, SLC, or PLC. These values for such modules may be retrieved through the PLC or SLC controller's statistics tables. The 1791D-16B0 is capable of receiving multiple voltage values via the DeviceNet network. Additionally, it can accommodate a variety of sensors and power supplies. Additionally, this module contributes to the reduction of node commissioning time.
