The Allen-Bradley 1791-8BC is an input/output block module that has 8 inputs and 8 outputs. It is a complete compact block which has all components inside, such as power supply, programmable controller, input and output connections and signal conditioning circuitry. It is suitable for an applications restricted by space limitations and applications that require input and output blocks to be close to sensors and actuators. Such distributed and compact I/O blocks can communicate with many types of process controllers. The input terminals of 1791-8BC acts as a sinking inputs and use nominal 24 volts DC. Therefore, the ON state voltage is 10 – 30 volts DC and ON state current is maximum 11 milliamperes. The OFF state voltage is maximum 5 volts DC. The 1791-8BC has remote I/O adapter and information from input can be transferred to remote processor or scanner. In same way, using RIO, the requested output voltages will appear at output terminals and drive the end user devices. The external power needed to power this device is a voltage of 19.2 to 30 volts DC and a current of 300 milliamperes. Outputs can support surge currents of maximum 3 amps for 50 milliseconds intervals, each repeatable every 2 seconds. Output current rating is 500 milliamperes at 140 degrees Fahrenheit and 1 amp at 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Maximum output signal delay from on to off state is 1.0 millisecond. The dimensions of this productmeasure out to 176.5 mm x 68.8 mm x 98 mm, or 6.95 inches x 2.7 inches x 3.85 inches.
