The 1788-CNCHKR NetChecker module is a hand-held device used for testing ControlNet networks that are active. This device was produced by the Allen-Bradley company. This device is small enough to fit in one's pocket and it uses batteries to operate. The main purpose of the 1788-CNCHKR is to help simplify commissioning and troubleshooting of the ControlNet installation process. This Allen-Bradley device helps its user find short-circuit conditions, as well as termination faults on the bus. This device can even be used to evaluate signal quality, among many other things.
The 1788-CNCHKR uses two (2) 1.5 volts DC alkaline AA batteries to operate. The battery life of this device is six (6) hours on continuous use. The power requirement of this device is 0.25 amperes at five (5) volts direct current (DC). This Allen-Bradley hand-held device is equipped with eight (8) status indicators. These indicators provide diagnostics and status functions for the user. The 1788-CNCHKR NetChecker module is equipped with a three position power switch. This switch allows for the device to be turned on, turned off, and even has a way to turn on the device only momentarily. Additionally, there is a DC jack adapter that allows an external DC power supply to be connected to this device. There is also a three (3) pin phoenix oscilloscope connector. This device, when weighed with batteries, weighs approximately two hundred and fifty (250) grams, or 8.18 ounces, The physical dimensions of this device withthe BNC connector included measure 164 x 83 x 33.5 millimeters. The temperature range suitable for this device to be used is zero to fifty (0 to 50) degrees Celsius. When storing this device, the temperature should remain withiin a range of negative forty to positive eighty-five (-40 to +85) degrees Celsius.
