The Allen-Bradley 1769-L20 CompactLogix controller is an efficient control system. In order to achieve isolation of the RS-232 port which serves as channel 0 of the controller, a 1761-NET-AIC isolator can be used. The controller is also adept at multitasking and establishes an environment that makes processes involving controller configuration and code encapsulation highly efficient. During configuration of the controller, the user can select the size of the chassis as well as the number of I/O modules required for a given application. A requested packet interval (RPI) value between 2 and 750 milliseconds can also be specified to control the degree of inhibition of the system. The Allen-Bradley 1769-L20 CompactLogix controller can communicate effectively over a DH-485 network. Depending on the type of interface used, the controller can also be used to connect to a remote I/O module using a DeviceNet link. For efficient communication, an Ethernet network can be used with one 1761-NET-ENI interface for each controller. A unique IP address is assigned to each Ethernet device. With a 1747-BA battery, the 1769-L20 controller has a battery life of 9 days at 60°C and a life of 14 days at 25°C. A battery indicator LED is also provided to indicate battery life.
