The Allen-Bradley Compact 1769-IQ16 module belongs to the series of 1769 Compact I/O modules that can be used as an expansion input/output with a Micrologix 1500 controller assembly with either a 1769-ADN DeviceNet adapter, an AENTR Ethernet adapter, or a CompactLogix controller. If the module is not connected to a MicroLogix 1500 base, its bank will need to include and provide its own power supply. The module includes a finger safe terminal block for the connections with sensors. When the module is locked to the others, the overall system becomes a rugged assembly. The 1769-IQ16 module is used as an input module for industrial standard 24 volt DC signals that can be either accessed as single bits or as one word of 16 bits. The actual range for the incoming input signals must be between 10 and 30 volts DC. The Allen-Bradley 1769-IQ16 module has inputs that are divided into 2 groups (with 8 inputs each) and have separate COM grounds. The module draws a current of 115 milliamps at 5.1 volts and has a maximum heat dissipation of 3.55 Watts. The typical on and off input delay is about 8 milliseconds. The dimensions of the product are 118 x 35 x 87 millimeters (4.65x1.38x3.43 in.). The device can operate at a temperature between 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees °Fahrenheit) and 60 degrees Celsius (140°Fahrenheit). The difference between this module and the 1769-IQ16F module is that the 1769-IQ16 module allows only slow signals and has an input delay of 8 milliseconds while the 1769-IQ16F module allows faster varying signals.
The 1769-IQ16 is an input digital module. This module is designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This controller is compatible with controllers from the 1500 MicroLogix, as well as the 1769 CompactLogix controller families. This digital input module should be used with either 22/16 AWG stranded copper wires or 22/14 AWG solid wires. Both types of wires will work perfectly with this particular controller. This digital module should be operated at an optimal temperature and installed at a reasonable altitude. All three are fully compatible with this digital module.
Unlike other controller modules, this one can automatically adjust different parameters such as slot assignment, revision number, module inhibition, and packet interval. Each of the two (2) input groups comes with eight (8) different input channels. Both the groups should be powered with a voltage rating in the range of 16 to 24 volts direct current (DC).
While operating at 30 degrees Celsius, this controller should be supplied with a voltage range of 10 to 30 volts direct current. On the other hand, when operating at 60 degrees Celsius, this controller should be supplied with a voltage in the range of 10 to 26.4 volts direct current. The signal delay time for the On/Off commands on this module is eight (8) milliseconds. For installation, this controller supports both DIN and panel mounting. However, users must ensure the clearance space around this controller for smooth airflow. This portable I/O module weighs approximately 270 grams.
