The Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4 compact voltage/current analogue input module has 4 differential or single-ended inputs each supports an input voltage rating of 30 volts AC/30 volts DC with different input voltage and current ranges starting from -10 volts DC to 10 volts DC and from 0 milliamps to 20 milliamps respectively. The 1769-IF4 has a resolution of 14 bits. This module converts and digitally stores analogue data voltage or current which can be employed by controllers such as the CompactLogix controller or the MicroLogix 1500 controller. The 1769-IF4 module can be employed in several applications mainly in the industrial field. For example, the 1769-IF4 module can be assembled with a 1769-ADN DeviceNet adapter or with a 1769-AENTR Ethernet adapter. This module can be mounted on well-grounded panels using two mounting M4 or #8 screws or on either EN 50 022 - 35 x 7.5 or EN 50 022 - 35 x 15 DIN rails. The 1769-IF4 input module dissipates an electrical power of 2.52 watts. The 1769-IF4 module has an OK status LED indicator which indicates that this terminal has power, has run internal diagnostics, and can communicate over the network. This Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4 employs a digital programmable filter which provides noise rejection for the input signals. This Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4 voltage/current analogue input module can be supplied through 1769 Compact I/O power supplies such as 1769-PA2, 1769-PB2, 1769-PA4, 1769-PB4 which are Class 2-rated power supplies that match the input transmitter specifications except when connected to a MicroLogix 1500 base with a current consumption of 120 milliamps. The normal impedance of the 1769-IF4 module is 220 kilo-ohms for the voltage input and 250 ohms for the current input. This 1769-IF4 module supports shielded or twisted-pair Belden 8761 wire or equivalent wires. The 1769-IF4 Allen-Bradley module can be connected easily to either the controller or to an adjacent I/O module before or after mounting. The data of the 1769-IF4 module can be configured as engineering parameters in milliamps or volts, percent of range, for PID, raw /proportional data for high resolution. The 1769-IF4 analogue module is intended for use in a mainly industrial environment that is clean and dry. This module weighs approximately 300 grams (0.65 pounds) while shipping. This Allen-Bradley module works properly at 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit).
The Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4 is a compact I/O analog module that is used with Allen-Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. It can convert analog data and store it digitally. The module is capable of calibrating itself automatically when a channel starts up or when the input changes configuration. It can detect errors, display them, and provide input to supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and human machine interface (HMI) systems.
The module can configure the processed data according to formats including raw data, scaled for PID, engineering units, and percent range. The 1769-IF4 has four (4) input channels with available ranges of +/-10 volts, 0 to 10 volts, 0 to 5 volts, 1 to 5 volts, 0 to 20 milliamperes, and 4 to 20 milliamperes.
A power supply matching the input transmitter is required, as this module does not have loop power available for analog inputs. For both the Series A and Series B modules, the current draw is limited to 5 volts direct current (DC). On the other hand, for Series B modules, the current draw is rated at 24 volts direct current (DC). The working voltage for which the module is rated is 30 volts AC/DC, and +/-10 volts per channel is the common-mode voltage range. The 1769-IF4 has an open-type enclosure, and it can be mounted on a DIN rail or panel mount. It has dimensions of 87 millimeters x 35 millimeters x 118 millimeters.
