The Allen-Bradley 1769-ADN is an I/O DeviceNet adapter module. This communication module is used to connect actuators and sensors with PLC controllers and computers using the common industrial protocol (CIP). CIP allows this communication module to collect data from industrial devices and allows for their control and configuration. This communication module is compatible with controllers belonging to the 1769 CompactLogix or MircoLogix 1500 automation families.
This device is also able to respond to DeviceNet scanners belonging to other programmable logic controllers (PLC) product families. It can be perfectly paired with controllers such as the ControLogix, the PLC5, and the SLC500. This adapter module supports messaging functions allowing it to carry out these functions. Using the 1769-ADN a controller or any compatible device is able to interface and transfer data with control systems, as well as field instruments. This communication module requires ninety (90) milliamperes of current at twenty-four (24) volts direct current (DC) and a voltage of eleven (11) to twenty-five (25) volts direct current.
The isolation voltage of this controller is thirty (30) volts. Care must be taken to ensure that the unit is properly installed particularly in a 1769 CompactLogix system. A secure lock is necessary for the bus connectors in order to have a reliable electrical connection. This controller unit is mounted using a panel mounting or a DIN rail. This controller must be mounted inside an open enclosure. It has dimensions of 4.65 inches x 1.97 inches x 3.43 inches.
