The 1762-IT4, which was manufactured by the Allen-Bradley company, is a MicroLogix 1200 Thermocouple/mV input module. Its function is to receive and record analog data from thermocouples and millivolt analog sensors. All input channels are connected to different input devices. 1762 expansion I/O bus provides power to the module. A (CJC) Cold junction compensation sensor is present at the terminal block to obtain accurate readings. The thermistor assembly is a very important factor to be kept in mind to ensure that the input readings to each channel are accurate. After mounting, a ribbon cable is used to attach the module to any type of controller or any other device. It is very important to keep spacing between the module and adjacent equipment. A minimum of 50.8 mm, or 2 inches, of space is recommended on all sides to allow for proper ventilation. The module should be mounted on a grounded surface similar to a metal pane according to the wiring and grounding guidelines. This module is ideal for industrial settings if installed according to the standard operating procedures. The Allen-Bradley 1762-IT4 can be used with the MicroLogix 1200 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). For applications involving temperature and transducers, this module is widely used. The 1762-IT4 has a power supply distance rating of six modules. The module comes with an analog to digital converter circuit. Delta-Sigma converter type is used that has a conversion resolution of 15 bits.
