The 1761-L16BWA is a MicroLogix 1000 controller with 16 input and output points. It is manufactured by Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the MicroLogix 1000 product line. This Allen Bradley controller comes with 10 inputs at 24 volts DC as well as 6 relay output points. It also features a high-speed input of 6.6-kilohertz with RS-232 and DF1 communication ports. This controller operates on an input power of 120 – 240 volts AC, and has a transformer load of 38 volt-amps at 240 volts AC and 35 volt-amps at 120 volts AC. Its real input power is 15 Watts at 240 volts AC and 14 watts at 120 volts AC. Besides, the controller has an apparent input power of 33 volt-amp at 240 Volts AC and 26 volt-amp at 120 volts AC. The 1761-L16BWA controller comes with an isolation of 1500 volts AC and an all-out 24 Volt DC sensor power of 200 milliamps and a capacitance of 200 µF. This controller has a maximum power supply inrush current of 30 amperes for 8 milliseconds. Allen Bradley 1761-L16BWA controller measures approximately 4.72 x 2.87 x 3.15 inches, and comes with 1 kilobyte EEPROM memory. It has a maximum of 40 timers with a 2 milliseconds response time typical for program scan time/Kword as well as a typical input and output of 0.21 scan time. The controller is mounted using a panel or DIN rail with an IP20 enclosure type. It has a power supply voltage range of 85 – 264 volts AC and a frequency of 47 - 63 hertz. When it is horizontally mounted, the controller operates at temperature of 0 – 55 degrees Celsius, while when it is vertically mounted it has an operating temperature of 0 – 40 degrees Celsius.
The operating temperature for 1761-L16BWA is 0 Celsius to +55 Celsius for horizontal mounting and 0 Celsius to +40 Celsius for vertical mounting. The storage temperature is -40 Celsius to +85 Celsius. The power supply voltage is 85-264 Volts, 47-63 Hertz. The minimum spacing is greater than or equal to 50.8 millimeters (2 inches) on any side. The controller should be mounted horizontally within an enclosure using either the DIN rail or mounting screw option. The controller can also be mounted vertically within an enclosure using mounting screws or a DIN rail. To ensure the stability of the controller, it is best to use mounting screws. When mounting your controller vertically, the nameplate should be facing downward. In solid-state control systems, grounding helps limit the effects of noise due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Run the ground connection from the ground screw of the controller (third screw from left on output terminal rung) to the ground bus. Use the heaviest wire gauge listed for wiring your controller. Any MicroLogix 1000 DC input can be configured as sinking or sourcing depending on how the DC COM terminal is wired. Sinking is when the input energizes when high-level voltage is applied to the input terminal (active high), where the connection is the power supply VDC (-) to the corresponding DC COM terminal. Sourcing is when the input energizes when low-level voltage is applied to the input terminal (active low), where the connection is the power supply VDC (+) to the corresponding DC COM terminal.
