The Data Highway Plus/RIO module 1756-DHRIO is capable of communicating with Control and Information Protocol (CIP) messaging, and remote I/O messaging. The 1756-DHRIO module uses remote I/O functionality to work as a scanner. The data transfer is discrete and block-transferred to remote I/O devices. The module is capable of connecting to multiple remote I/O adapters. The DH-RIO port requires Belden 89463 twin axial, 20 AWG rated 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) cable with a Phoenix MVSTBR2.5/3-ST BK AU connector. The remote I/O scanner module operates in the temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and the air surrounding cannot exceed 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). The backplane rating is 5.1 Volts DC for 850 milliamperes and 24 Volts DC for 1.7 milliampere. It has an isolation voltage rating of 30 Volts continuous with basic insulation from DHRIO A/B to backplane and DHRIO A/programming port to DHRIO B. There is no isolation between DHRIO A and the programming port. The terminal block torque requirement for the DHRIO connector is 0.56 to 0.79 N-m (5 to 7 lb.-in) and North American temp code is T4A and ATEX temp code is T4. The communication rate reduces with increasing cable length from 57.6 Kbaud at 10,000 feet (3048 meters), 115.2 Kbaud at 5000 feet (1524 meters), and 230.4 Kbaud at 2500 feet (762 meters).
